Vision
The department’s vision is to be a pioneer and leader in the field of modern water resources technologies across education, scientific research, and the application and management of these technologies. This is achieved by equipping graduates with the expertise that qualifies them to actively participate in water resources management in terms of planning, design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of irrigation projects—such as irrigation and drainage networks and hydraulic structures like dams. Additionally, it aims to promote the environmental awareness necessary to create a sound environmental reality, comprehensively study environmental sciences and their theoretical and practical applications in society, and focus heavily on studying the microorganisms that contaminate water resources.
Mission
The department’s mission is to supply the labor market with outstanding technicians in the field of water resources engineering to serve development plans. It aims to actively contribute to the execution of engineering projects, provide scientific consultation, prepare economic feasibility studies and irrigation project designs, and publish rigorous research that advances science and education. Furthermore, the department is committed to providing technical services and contributing to solving current problems, especially those related to water scarcity and rising salinity levels. It strives to achieve an outstanding level in both theoretical and practical educational fields, recognizing that environmental specialization is vital in civilized countries and has become an urgent, modern necessity. The department also seeks to provide a suitable scientific and practical environment that aligns with global environmental protection requirements.
Objectives
Graduating specialized technical personnel in the field of water resources, irrigation and drainage projects, and water operation projects.
Developing methods to improve the characteristics of water resources to meet future water demands.
Graduating technical personnel qualified to conduct surveying work, including agricultural land surveying and calculating earthwork volumes for irrigation and drainage projects.
Fostering creative skills in the design and analysis of hydraulic structures, identifying potential engineering problems, and finding optimal solutions prior to implementation using modern engineering software.
Equipping graduates with practical skills in monitoring and regulating irrigation activities, determining irrigation water requirements, maintaining and operating irrigation and drainage projects, and installing, operating, and maintaining modern irrigation systems.
Training graduates to perform laboratory testing of construction materials and soil investigations, qualifying them to work in construction laboratories.
Preparing personnel in the field of environmental technologies with a solid theoretical and practical background, enabling them to effectively practice their specializations and produce applied scientific research to solve pollution problems.
