Vision

We aspire for the Autotronics Engineering Technology Department to be a pioneer in qualifying specialized technical and engineering cadres in all types of modern vehicles (conventional, electric, and hybrid). Our graduates will be equipped with high scientific and technical skills, capable of keeping pace with global advancements in fault diagnosis and advanced vehicle systems maintenance, ultimately contributing to the support of national industry and meeting local and regional market demands.

Mission

The mission of the Autotronics Engineering Technology Department is to provide specialized education and training that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills in automotive electricity, mechanics, and electronics, with a particular focus on electric and hybrid vehicles. The department works on developing students’ skills using the latest equipment and modern technologies, preparing them to be qualified technical cadres who support the labor market or pursue higher education, keeping pace with the rapid developments in the automotive industry.

Objectives:

  • Qualifying Advanced Technical Cadres: Graduating students who possess high practical and theoretical skills in the field of maintenance and fault diagnosis for modern, electric, and hybrid vehicles.

  • Applying Modern Education: Adopting advanced educational curricula that merge theoretical knowledge with practical application in laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art devices and equipment.

  • Stimulating Research and Development: Encouraging students and faculty members to engage in scientific research and development within the field of modern vehicle systems and embedded technologies.

  • Linking Education with the Labor Market: Building partnerships with industrial and commercial institutions to provide training and employment opportunities for graduates, ensuring their skills match market needs.

  • Promoting Technical Thinking and Innovation: Developing students’ critical thinking and technical problem-solving skills to prepare them to handle modern engineering challenges.

  • Raising Professional Competency: Providing continuous training programs for students, graduates, and teaching staff to keep pace with global developments in autotronics engineering, in alignment with the rapid evolution of the modern automotive industry.

Program Goals

The program aims to prepare and graduate technical cadres who complete their studies in two academic years to earn a Technical Diploma. Additionally, a bridging mechanism (articulation pathway) has been approved, enabling $50\%$ of the students to complete two additional years to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Autotronics Engineering Technology. Consequently, the program will contribute to graduating distinguished, innovative, and interactive cadres capable of communicating and interacting with all other scientific and engineering disciplines by providing the necessary expertise in scientific fields and global communication skills.

The department aims to establish distinguished educational programs, summarized as follows:

1. Qualifying Engineering and Technical Cadres and Deepening the Scientific Background

Knowledge Background

Engineering is an applied science that simulates reality, acquired through studying and understanding other fields of knowledge such as mathematics and applied sciences. Therefore, through this educational program, students will gain extensive experience in practicing and applying engineering sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences to daily life.

Areas of Interest and Integration

The Autotronics Engineering Technology Department focuses on studying engineering sciences—such as automotive mechanics, electricity, and electronics related to control units and networks—as well as applied sciences like programming principles and materials science. These are applied practically in specialized automotive systems laboratories, plants, and workshops. Consequently, the graduate engineer and technician from this specialization will be equipped with a solid theoretical and practical scientific background across diverse fields.

Analytical and Deductive Capabilities

The department’s program aims to develop students’ analytical and deductive capabilities, enabling them to make the right decisions and solve all problems facing an engineer’s work. This is done while considering all environmental, ethical, social aspects (such as safety and emission standards), as well as technical considerations.

2. Practical Experience and Specialized Professional Skills

Problem Solving and Consultation

The program seeks to provide students with broad scientific and practical experience, alongside professional skills in the field of autotronics technologies. This enables the student to solve complex issues and provide correct consultations covering a wide range of practical interests in the diagnosis and maintenance of electronic and mechatronic systems in vehicles. It also prepares them to follow precise, established scientific procedures to achieve correct problem resolution.

Design, Operation, and Maintenance

The program aims to prepare students to be knowledgeable in the principles of designing, operating, and maintaining modern electronic and electrical vehicle systems. It also develops their capability to conduct tests and studies that offer professional and consultative services to serve society in general, and the specialized vehicle maintenance and development market in particular.

3. Qualifying the Graduate as an Applied Autotronics Engineer

The specialization aims to qualify the autotronics engineering graduate to be an “applied” engineer fully conversant with modern applications in their field of specialization through:

  • Installing and operating various electronic and mechatronic systems in all types of vehicles (such as engine management systems, active safety systems, and navigation systems).

  • Scheduling and programming electronic diagnostic work and periodic maintenance for complex vehicle systems.

  • Contributing to and supervising maintenance, performing electronic scans, and identifying and repairing faults in various vehicle devices and units.
