Department History of Electrical Techniques

Established in 1976 as the Technical Institute of Mosul, Mosul Polytechnic College was the first technical institution in northern Iraq. Initially offering basic technological and administrative tracks, its Electricity Department expanded rapidly, splitting in 1987 into the Department of Electronic Technologies and the Department of Electrical Engineering Technologies.

Over the years, the Electrical Engineering department refined its curriculum, ultimately consolidating its programs into two primary specializations: Electrical Power Engineering and Electrical Networks.

As a core pillar of the institution, the department actively serves the community through its Bureau of Scientific and Advisory Services. It offers a rigorous two-year academic program awarding a Technical Diploma in Electrical Power Techniques, with top graduates eligible to pursue higher engineering degrees. Today, having officially transitioned into Mosul Polytechnic College, the institution continues to expand its offerings across diverse engineering disciplines.
